AI security and privacy: clear ownership of data, retention and vendor risk
Shadow AI, data leaving Canada and unowned retention put AI projects at risk long before a board slide names the owner. You Go Media’s AI security and privacy programs are for Canadian CTO and IT leaders who need someone to own data handling, retention, hosting choices and vendor risk on the projects we design or integrate. We are not a law firm, and we do not hold or sell a “PIPEDA-certified” badge.
Canadian privacy rules and guidance (OPC, PIPEDA, Law 25) raise the pressure on boards; we treat them as context, not legal advice. Clients should consult qualified privacy counsel for formal opinions, PIAs and cross-border assessments.
Nobody owns what staff paste into public AI tools
Leadership hears “we are adopting AI” while nobody owns what staff paste into public tools, where transcripts and embeddings live, or which vendor subprocessors touch customer files. At the same time, counsel or the board asks about generative AI principles after media coverage, and the only answer is a policy deck with no program owner on the live stack.
More chatbot demos will not fix unowned data risk. We scope a privacy-aware AI review so retention, access, hosting and vendor risk become accountable decisions on the PHP is a server-side programming language that runs many websites and web applications. We pair it with JavaScript, AJAX, jQuery and MySQL through PDO, and also work in Python, C++ and C# when a project needs them. Our focus is web-based applications., WordPress and AI integrations you already run, or are about to ship.
Shadow AI and staff paste behaviour compounds quietly across teams
Customer emails, contracts and support threads already leave your control through personal ChatGPT tabs and unsanctioned plugins. That is a reason to hire someone to own the program, not to write a worksheet about acceptable use. When marketing, support and engineering each invent their own AI shortcuts, incident exposure and board questions arrive before anyone names a single retention rule.
Data leaving Canada, retention, and embedding risk without a program owner
Prompts, chat transcripts, retrieval corpora and fine-tune candidates travel to vendors and regions nobody scoped. Unclear data residency, indefinite retention and embedding stores without access rules compound quietly while product teams ship features. On the projects we work on, You Go Media treats that as a business risk, including the pressure that Canadian privacy expectations add.
Brittle WordPress, PHP and chatbot integrations leak data faster than policy decks can catch it
Transcript storage, plugin permissions, API keys and webhook logs fail in the open while the policy PDF still looks tidy. On the stacks James A. Cordeiro ships (custom PHP is a server-side programming language that runs many websites and web applications. We pair it with JavaScript, AJAX, jQuery and MySQL through PDO, and also work in Python, C++ and C# when a project needs them. Our focus is web-based applications., WordPress and grounded chatbots), brittle integrations are a risk we take ownership of. Building the assistant itself is covered on AI chatbot development. This program covers the data risk when those builds, or someone else’s plugins, send data out without anyone owning retention.
Vendor lock without governance: residency, subprocessors and unclear training use as business pain
Contracts signed for speed often omit clear residency, subprocessor maps and training-use boundaries. Lock-in without governance is a liability when counsel asks who can retrain on your customer files. You Go Media scopes vendor risk on the consult, and we do not invent sovereignty seals or audit scores.
Data risk needs an owner on the live integration
CTOs do not need another blog that teaches privacy principles they already skimmed. They need a builder who will own data risk on the live integration, and who will say clearly when formal counsel, not You Go Media, must decide. We refuse certifications for show. Hardware sovereignty and advisory-only PIAs are outside our scope; we focus on the Canadian AI builds and integrations You Go Media designs or integrates.
What we review: data handling, retention, hosting and vendors
- Data-handling ownership: what enters prompts, logs and retrieval stores on the projects in scope
- Retention and access: how long transcripts and embeddings live, who can see what, and defaults that refuse training on customers’ personal information without explicit scope and counsel
- Hosting: where AI processing and your data live, weighed against Canadian business risk and decided on the consult
- Vendor risk: residency, subprocessors and training-use terms explained so your CTO can be accountable for them
- Context, not counsel: OPC, PIPEDA and Law 25 named as the rules that raise the pressure; You Go Media does not provide legal advice
- Integrity: no invented “PIPEDA certified” badges, audit scores, or sovereignty seals You Go Media does not hold
How this complements local LLMs, chatbots, AI SEO, and application foundation
Private, self-hosted AI models are covered on prompt engineering and local LLMs. This program is part of AI Intelligence & Secure Infrastructure, which also covers building the AI features themselves. For the stack underneath your AI features, see Application Foundation. When SEO tools or AI content systems use your data, see AI SEO programs. For API key and vendor connection risk, see API integrations. For hosting, see cloud hosting and environments.

How this fits with local LLMs, chatbots and legal counsel
This program covers AI security and privacy. Local LLM work, chatbot builds and formal privacy counsel are separate services. AI security and privacy work is done by You Go Media only; US firms based in Denver, CO never co-brand legal or privacy work. If US paid campaigns later process campaign data, those processors stay separate and client-owned.
Common questions
Is this legal advice or a law firm page?
No. You Go Media scopes technical and privacy-aware AI program reviews. Formal opinions and PIAs belong with qualified privacy counsel.
Do you carry out the AI privacy review, or give us a checklist?
We carry it out. The privacy-aware AI review starts with a consult. It is not legal advice.
Do you sell a “PIPEDA-certified” badge or invented audit score?
No.
How is this different from prompt engineering and local LLMs?
Prompt engineering and local LLMs covers private, self-hosted models. AI security and privacy covers who owns data, retention and vendor risk across your AI projects.
How is this different from AI chatbot development?
Chatbot development builds the assistant and its user experience. This program reviews data and security risk across all your AI features.
Will You Go Media train models on our customer data?
By default, no, unless there is explicit scope and counsel. It is a program boundary we scope on the consult.
Is this limited to one province?
No. The program fits organizations anywhere in Canada that work under Canadian privacy rules, and we run it from Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Book a privacy-aware AI review
Share which AI features are live or planned, whether staff already paste customer data into public tools, and whether retention or residency is unowned today. Then request a project scope, and we will confirm next steps.
